Digamber Jain Temple in Yermal, Udupi The Jain Basadi (temple) has beautiful idol of 8th Thirthankara, Bhagavan Sri Chandranataha of Hoysala architect style. It is said that this Jain temple deity installation was done by a Gujarati pearl merchant about one thousand years ago. When he was sailing from Gujarat to Mangalore port, his boat was struck by some rock. On checking they found a Jain theerthankara idol with moon sign on the bottom. They installed it in the present Jain temple. There after he stayed there and continued worshiping. It is also believed that present temple family are his successors. The Jain Temple is situated on main highway and hence easily accesible especially to all those who have a niyam for daily Jin darshan.
